Allow me to first apologize for being MIA with my blog. I think I tend to do this thing where I say “I’m getting back to normal routine” and think I am going to post as much as I used too, but to be honest it took my YEAR END REVIEW at work to let me know I was slacking with this. Shout out to my company (follow @godaddy) 😉 who has “personal” goals at work, and when I joined in June I said I wanted to make my blog more of a priority. Well, here I am and I am going to use Sundays as my writing days and publish throughout the week.
In other news, winter has been a bit brutal with my skin. I usually suffer from “combination skin” which I feel is more tricky considering I never know when my skin will be dry AF or oily to where I’m trying to rock the “oily glow.” In the beginning of the season, I noticed my skin was starting to almost crack (ew) with the current products I was using in the summer/fall that clearly weren’t moisturizing my skin enough. Took some time to test out new products, and I wanted to share my current favorites with you! All products below are hyperlinked as well!
First Step: Rosehip Oil
I’ve talked about this product before, but boy has it been a game changer for my skin. As soon as I get out of the shower, I immediately will apply this to my face (about 3-4 drops is perfect). Rosehip Oil is an incredible source of moisture for the skin since it contains Vitamin A, so I like to start out my skincare with this product. I know the product I listed and use is a bit pricey, but any rosehip oil you can find on Amazon should do the trick.
Step Two: Moisturizer, Moisturizer, Moisturizer
As I said earlier, the winter weather requires the ultimate moisturizer. I actually combine both products above. After I apply the rosehip oil, I’ll go in with the Up&Up moisturizer from Target (only $11 too!) which goes on very nice, and to add some brightness to the mix I’ll go in with the *incredible smelling* Ole Henricksen Truth Revealed Brightening Moisturizer. I swear by this combination, it doesn’t leave my skin feeling overly greasy or oily.
Step Three: Eye Cream!
Hate that I didn’t get on this train earlier. I have seen some of my favorite beauty YouTuber’s use this and swear by it, but I was using my drug-store go-to. I didn’t realize how investing in a more expensive product could really benefit your skin, but I have actually seen a difference with this product. Secret: I have fine lines under my eyes that tend to appear worse when I put on concealer, so I was trying to find an eye cream that wouldn’t dry out immediately AND make my concealer look like clay 😉 This has been such a staple product this winter and I highly recommend spending a few extra bucks for this!
Step Four: Coat them lips, baby
No need to explain what this horrid ass cold weather does to your lips. I actually had this item on my Christmas list and I’m so happy it has come into my life. No scent (which I prefer) and the moisture from this chapstick lasts me a good 3 hours, I probably only reapply about two times throughout the day.
Step Five: LATHER UP
If I could smell like one scent for the rest of my life, this product would be IT. Fun fact, because this was called “Bum Bum” cream I literally thought I should only use it on my ass, but turns out you can use it ALL OVER YOUR BODY! It smells honestly incredible, and it leaves my skin feeling SO soft and not oily at all, which I have found with some other moisturizers.
That is my routine for February 2019, hope you guys are able to test some of these out and see the amazing benefits I have!
