What a weird, weird time. I know we’re all experiencing this, which almost makes it even more weird as we’ve been used to going through issues on a personal level. However, I’ve come to find peace and unity throughout this, and though it has not been easy, it’s allowed for me to find more time for myself and things I’ve neglected in my day-to-day life. Below, I’ve listed out some things I’ve been doing that have really helped me get through this time, and I hope they can help you too.
Journaling
I know you’re all thinking omg another bitch telling me to journal. But when I tell you it helps – it does. Something about putting a pen to paper has allowed me to get out of my own mind and put it somewhere else (literally). The beauty of it is also being able to go back and read about past anxieties, and how they aren’t present say a week or two later. The most intimidating part, at least for me, Is not knowing where to start with journaling – but my friend recommend to me an awesome woman named Amber Rae who created a “30 day journaling program” that emails you a prompt every morning. I LOVE it because I’m able to focus on different parts of my life throughout these 30 days, so I’m not always talking about my anxiety about COVID (lmfao). Here’s a link to sign up for the program (it’s free) – so get a journal, and do yo thang!
Listing 7 things you’ll get done today
I heard this trick on my fav podcast, The Skinny Confidential Him&Her podcast, and this has dramatically shifted priorities for me day to day. Just like many of you, I am working from home and between working, exercising, eating relatively clean – my mind is like where the fuck do I start? So writing down at least 7 things I want and need to accomplish has really helped me and I recommend you trying it too.
Take some silence before starting your day
Meditating is hard for some people, and while I’ve been doing it for so long, it still can be tricky for me. Still, I would recommend trying to put on a five minute guided meditation and or some relaxing music to center yourself and taking the time to count your blessings and what you’re grateful for. I promise you – it will help you bring so much positivity into your day. An app I have been loving is Buddhify – but can be totally up to your preferences.
Look cute, but stay comfy
So of course there is always the option of changing into jeans and getting ready like you would for a normal day – but when will we have this time to remain in some comfy clothes for an extended period of time? Below, I have listed some of the most AMAZING pieces I have bought that I am honestly living in, and they are super cute & comfy 🙂 side note – all from Missguided. They have been my saving grace during this time!
I hope you all enjoyed this post – I am rooting for you and know we are all in this together! Love you all <3
xoxo,
Hales
